Down and out in this bed of chance
Provoked by events and happenstance
I stare out the window at the rooftops down below
And hope soon the air in my lungs will flow on their own
To be bored and forced does nothing for creativity
When life hangs in the balance
Shocked by the possibility that it could all end in an instant
Don’t wait, focus and listen

Little steamy demons retreat one by one
then softly dissipate with the heat of the sun
They go with the wind and blend with the blight
and mingle with the cigarette smoke from the lips of passers by
Not one is the same nor will it ever be
The wind is the constant that moves the smoke I see

For the highs and the lows in the moments that last, remember these too shall pass

As the glaring truth bears down profound nerves embarking on a breakdown
No silent solace can subdue the ear piercing sound
One deep breath and sweat soaked sheets
A light head and darkness surrounding me
To be bored and forced does nothing for creativity
When life hangs in the balance
